Pre-SIHH 2015: Piaget's Black Tie "vintage-inspiration"

The Black Tie "vintage-inspiration" watch by Piaget is the paragon of a revivified classic. As Piaget emphasizes, it's not a square, nor is it round or rectangular. This watch's case is a unique shape that mirrors the designs of Piaget's 1960's timepieces. The original version of this exact wristwatch was most notably worn and, evidently, made popular by Andy Warhol....

It's Time To Chime In: The Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous Ivy Minute Repeater [WITH VIDEO]

I am elated to present the exquisite Rendez-Vous Ivy Minute Repeater by Jaeger-LeCoultre. Though you may not have to go far to find a ladies' timepiece adorned with precious jewels, it is fairly uncommon to see a ladies' wristwatch containing such elaborate complications. Barring JLC's Hybris Artistica collection, I consider this watch to be the brand's finest creation....

The Vacheron Constantin Malte Small Seconds

A dress watch is a quintessential piece in any collection. Patek’s Calatrava, Lange’s Saxonia, Journe’s Chronometre Bleu, and Vacheron’s Patrimony all sell for around $20,000, are known for their superb quality, and are downright dapper. These watches exemplify fine Swiss watchmaking, but aside from Journe’s use of tantalum, are they that unusual? This is why I admire Vacheron’s Malte.

HANDS-ON: Introducing The IWC Aquatimer Automatic

A short while ago, I visited with IWC to get a closer look at the watch I have just been dying to see, the Aquatimer Automatic from SIHH 2014. At a glimpse, this watch isn’t dissimilar to its predecessors, but when actually taking the time to sit down and further examine the watch, the modifications speedily become evident. As with most, if not all, professional diving watches, the case is constructed of super-durable stainless steel and, overall, is rugged in nature. To be honest, it wears a bit loudly on my wrist, but at 42 millimeters in diameter and 14 millimeter in height, it’s ideally sized for a modern dive watch, actually the smallest watch of the Aquatimer collection.

Searching For A Diver At SIHH 2014

Today, I would like to introduce the most recent creation by Cartier, the Calibre de Cartier Diver Watch. This watch is indeed amazing, but had a totally unexpected release earlier this year. As most know, Cartier has produced some of the upmost exceptional masterpieces of jewelry and horology in the world, but within the 167 years of Cartier’s existence, the Calibre de Cartier Diver is the only serious diver’s watch in the company’s timekeeping lineage.

The Panerai Luminor Marina 8 Days Acciaio: A Modern Classic

Today, I’d like to introduce you to the new Panerai Luminor Marina 8 Days Acciaio, a modern sports watch that, I suspect, one day will be a vintage treasure. This watch is the epitome of a perfect Panerai: a clean dial, an in-house movement, a rugged pebbled-leather strap, and a case that has the weight of a solid block of steel. The official name of this watch is the PAM 590, a name that I know we all will be hearing a lot more of.

HANDS-ON [WITH LIVE PICS]: Introducing the JLC Grand Reverso Ultra Thin 1931 Chocolate

Today, I spent some time looking back at some of my favorite watches from this year’s shows. As I was sorting through my millions of wristies (no not selfies, wristies), I found a few awesome pictures of an also awesome Reverso. But this was not just any Reverso: this was the Ultra Thin 1931 Chocolate Reverso, the watch that was under the spotlight at 2014’s SIHH. This irrefutably stunning wristwatch combines JLC’s technical sophistication as well as the brand’s appreciation of the icon’s (still referring to the watch) heritage.

Watches in NYC: A collection of Upcoming Watch Events for the Aspiring Collector

May in New York is the Mardi Gras for watch lovers all around the world. Why? Well, in this fabulous month, NYC takes on a watch theme. First with Madison Avenue Watch Week, and then with Timecrafters 2014, I don’t think one city can get any better than this. Madison Avenue Watch Week, or MAWW, is a five day long event, starting on the fifth and ending on the tenth, where, generally by appointment or invitation, watch enthusiasts get a chance to spend some “paradise-like time” with the watches of their dreams.
